Hey Dead here. I wanted to take you all behind the scenes of what a week looks like for Gran Dead as we work on refining our sound and pushing our creative boundaries. This past week was all about the grind, honing our craft, and keeping our vision for Gran Dead alive and thriving.
Monday – Exploring New Depths in Sound
We started the week by diving into the core of what makes Black Shed resonate—the dark, powerful tones of B minor. There’s something about this scale that feels like the heartbeat of Gran Dead: intense, haunting, and layered. Digging deeper into it has sparked new ideas and possibilities for shaping our sound. Each practice session is a reminder of why we gravitate towards these heavier tones—they’re visceral and raw, and they set the perfect stage for the stories we want to tell.
Tuesday – Tapping Into Real Emotions
Our music has always been about capturing real experiences and channelling them into something impactful. This week, I felt a fresh wave of creative energy in our writing sessions, tapping into the darker, more intense side of our sound. For us, writing is about putting it all on the line, creating songs that aren’t just tracks but experiences that listeners can feel. That rawness keeps us grounded and connected to what Gran Dead is all about.
Midweek Grind – Building Consistency and Momentum
Midweek, we focused on building consistency with our sound, locking in vocal techniques and instrumental layers. Every rehearsal and every vocal take is about adding to the foundation we’re creating with Black Shed. There’s a relentless drive behind every note, every riff, every line—a commitment to refining our sound and pushing it further. We’re excited to see where this momentum will take us, and each day spent in the grind brings us closer to realizing that vision.
Thursday – Pushing Through, Pushing Forward
On Thursday, we spent the day experimenting with vocal techniques, adding more grit and intensity. Gran Dead is all about harnessing that raw energy, and this album has given us room to explore new depths and dynamics. Practising these techniques is challenging but rewarding, and it’s all in pursuit of creating a sound that’s unmistakably us. Every day we push a little further, finding new ways to express the themes that matter to us and make an impact.
Saturday – Reflection and Vision for the Future
As we work on this album, we’re constantly thinking about where Gran Dead is headed. This band isn’t just about the music; it’s about creating a space for anyone who’s been through struggles and come out stronger. Our journey with Black Shed is part of a bigger picture, and we’re thrilled to be setting up our website, sharing more of our process, and reaching out to new fans. This project has been a milestone for us, and we’re ready to keep building on it.
